CLEAR CREEK WHITEWATER
KAYAKING PARK

The Clear Creek Whitewater Kayaking Park is one of Golden’s most unique recreational attractions. Built for recreational canoeing and kayaking, the course is one quarter of a mile of adventurous, splashing fun! This innovative recreational experience is divided into sections. The top is a series of drops and pools of different experience levels and has some fast eddies. The middle portion consists of flat, broad, shallow surf waves with huge random boulders–a prime workplace for gates. The bottom section entertains paddlers with more extreme surf and wave drops. The class of this course will require paddlers proficient on fast moving, cold water, particularly during high flow season. There are no fees for drop-in usage and the course is unsupervised. The course at the Clear Creek Whitewater Kayaking Park has hosted various events including the Colorado School of Mines Spring Icebreaker, The Clear Creek Whitewater Festival, The Open Canoe Championships, The Junior Olympic Championships, and the Eddie Bauer Invitational to name a few. There are also reported sightings of the U.S. Olympic Kayak Team practicing at the course!

The Golden Parks and Recreation Department also offers lessons at the indoor pool for those that would like to safely learn this unique water sport.

Golden River Sports is a full-service kayak, SUP, fly fishing and tubing shop located two blocks north of Clear Creek on Washington Avenue (between 8th and 9th streets). Sign up for kayak lessons and rentals or fly fishing guided trips and fly-tying classes. Golden River Sports also has a full line of SUP supplies i.e. stand up paddle boards, rip boards, inflatable kayaks and tubes. Golden River Sports is just minutes away from the Golden’s Whitewater Kayaking Course on 10th Street and the “Golden Mile” fishing habitat on Clear Creek. Members of the staff are all fly fishing experts, SUP and kayakers themselves and take pride in helping you with all your equipment needs.

Adventure West is a family owned river tube rental business in picturesque and historic Golden, CO. They rent high quality, heavy duty 30 gauge PVC professional river float tubes with handles. Multiple sizes available to provide maximum comfort to the rider. They also provide personal flotation devices (life jacket) with each tube rental free of charge. Helmets are available for rent for an additional charge.
